KABUL(SW):Officials at the Kabul Municipality said that the department’s income has decreased by 21 percent in the current year.
Abdul Ahad Wahid, Acting Mayor, told journalists today (Saturday) in Kabul that their incomes reach more than 2 million Afs in the current year, which shows a decrease compared to last year’s.
He blamed security and economic problems for the dwindling income.
Some officials said that most government and non-government organizations have not paid their debts, which exceed 2 million Afs to Kabul Municipality. Wahid said that Kabul Municipality did not have budget to for the cars to evacuate garbage from the capital Kabul and that is why the garbage remained in the city for so long.
He said that they have had meetings about this problem and they would try to find a solution for it. Eng. Aslam Akrami, deputy for Kabul Manicipality, who was also speaking on the occasion, said that the Municipality rules and regulations was out of date and needed a new one.
Touching upon the performance of Municipality over the past year, he said that almost 108 km road was asphalted and about 15 million cubic pedestrian paths has been fixed. Construction of 170 meter bridges, reconstruction of 37 km sub roads and planting millions trees were all the activities carried out by the municipality.
