UNAMA condemns Saturday’s attack in Kabul

KABUL (SW): The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has strongly condemned this afternoon’s terrorist attack in the capital that killed at least 10 people and injured more than 36, including women and children.

UNAMA has agained called for immediate halt to all such disproportionate attacks in civilian-populated areas in Afghanistan. UNAM Aextends its condolences to the families of all of those killed in the explosion and wishes a speedy recovery to those injured”, the UN body said.

The NATO-led Resolute Support Mission (RSM) has confirmed that Saturday's bombing targeted a convoy belonging to the coalition.  "We can confirm an attack on Resolute Support contracted civilians. One was killed in the attack and two others died of wounds as a result of the attack.", Col. Brian Tribus of Resolute Support has been quoted saying by The Times.

“One Resolute Support U.S. contractor was killed and two Resolute Support U.S. contractors died of wounds as a result of a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device attack on their convoy in Kabul today”, the RSM said in an unclassified message.

The attack took place in the Macrorayan district of Kabul, according to health ministry spokesman Wahidullah Mayar. The dead included a foreign national and a woman; among the injured were six women and five children, Mayar added.
