ISLAMABAD (SW): We have taken note of the Press Conference by the President of Afghanistan held in Kabul and its contents relating to Pakistan, the Foreign Office in Islamabad said in a statement late Monday evening.
Pakistan and Afghanistan are brotherly and neighbouring countries and enjoy close and cooperative relations. Pakistan is committed to maintaining good neighbourly relations with Afghanistan and all other regional countries, it added.
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani regretted on Monday that the enemies of Afghanistan were still having bases, offices and training camps inside Pakistan. He said Pakistani Premier Nawaz Sharif has asked for time to devise a comprehensive plan against terrorism.
“In my conversation last night, Pakistan Prime Minister pledged to direct his government to chart out an action plan against terrorism and to discuss and decide on its implementation during a trip by an Afghan delegation in the coming Thursday”, he said.
Terrorism is our common enemy and requires cooperative approach to combat this menace, Pakistan’s Foreign Office said in respond.
As underscored by the Prime Minister of Pakistan during his visit to Kabul on 12 May 2015, Pakistan considers enemies of Afghanistan as its own enemies and has been extending its fullest cooperation to Afghanistan in combating terrorism, it added.
According to the FO statement, Pakistan remains committed to supporting and facilitating an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace and reconciliation process in Afghanistan.
