Saleh Mohammad wins silver at World Snooker Championship

KABUL (SW) – Saleh Mohammad of Afghanistan secured silver medal in World Snooker Championship held in Mayanmar.

According to the Afghanistan Physical Fitness Directorate, Saleh lost the final to the defending champion Daren Morgan of Wales by a clear margin of 6-0. The gold medalist, Morgan, is considered a legendary snooker player of his times.

Mehboob Darabi, head of the Afghanistan Football Federation, Saleh managed to defeat his opponents from Australia, Austria, India, Mangolia, Qatar, Thailand, Japan and Myanmar to reach to the final.  

Saleh Mohammad won his semi-final bout when he fought off a spirited performance from Suckakree Poomajang of Thailand to triumph 5-4 and reached in the final of World Snooker Masters Championship 2018. It was arguably the biggest contest in this year’s masters category where both shown the best control on their nerves.

Alongside Saleh, two more Afghans – Raees Khan Senzay and Zamaray Asaas – also participated in the World Snooker Championship alongside some 150 players from 36 different countries.
