KABUL (SW) – A week-long campaign to raise awareness against violence aimed at women has been launched, the Ministry of Information and Culture announced on Sunday.
Haseena Safi, interim-minister for the Ministry of Information and Culture, told a presser in this connection that the campaign would run till December 10. She said the government wishes to counter violence against women with innovative social ideas and spread of awareness.
On this occasion, Fareeda Nekzaad, chairperson for the Women Journalists’ Association, urged the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) candidates to pay extra attention towards legislations aimed at improving the state of women in the society.
Among others during the campaign to raise awareness against violence aimed at women, feature films would be showed, handicrafts displayed, book reading and poetry sessions would be organized.
