12/10/2018

HERAT CITY (SW) – The youth in Herat province have commenced road-side book reading campaign in a bid to promote the culture of book reading.

In conversation with Salam Watandar, youngsters affiliated with this movement said they wish to extend this movement to universities and schools across the country.  The campaign began over a year ago with the members picking books on terms for reading and review.

Rafi Attaey, Mujibur Rehman Faizi and Masooma, members of the campaign, said they are trying to make sure every citizen develops habit of book reading.

In the meantime, Massoud Hassan Zada, local literary figure, has hailed the efforts of the youth in this regard. He lamented lack of platforms to promote and facilitate book reading.

Literary figures in Afghanistan have long been complaining against the youth spending most of their time on the social media, instead of reading books.
