‘Traffic police in Ghor busy in extortion’

28/09/2018

GHOR (SW) – A number of Ghor residents and transporters have charged the traffic police for extorting money in the province.

The frustrated transporters told Salam Watandar the traffic police ask for money regardless of the validity of the relevant documents. Similar grievances were shared by roadside traders in the Feroz Koh city. They asserted the traffic police extort money from them on different pretexts.

The Ghor residents have urged the government to take effective steps in stopping this financial persecution.

Meanwhile, the directorate of traffic has declined to comment on this. Syed Zia Hussaini, director security at the provincial police headquarters, discarded the allegation. He clarified only those transporters are fined who violate rules and regulations.

According to Ghor residents, even the Taliban rebels extort money from them  on the Ghor – Herat highway.
