KABUL (SW) – Mohammad Sarwar Danish, second vice president, on Tuesday stressed calls for review of the Bilateral Security Agreement with the U.S. are not in the interest of the nation
Addressing a gathering in connection with the Moharam, Danish said the members of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) are bound to respect the national interests in line with the Article 81 of the Constitution. He said those demanding review of the BSA are not aware of the security and economic situation of the country, but are driven by their personal vendetta.
A day earlier, Abdullah Abdullah, chief executive officer, also denounced the calls to review the BSA, and blamed those demanding it for prioritizing personal gains over national interests.
This comes as the WJ voted with a majority last week demanding review of the BSA. Such calls have been backed by the former president, Hamid Karzai, and a number of other politicians.
