HERAT CITY (SW) – Naseer Ahmad Durrani, minister for the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, has warned against illegally importing substandard Iranian saffron into the country.
He was visiting Herat to inaugurate a number of agriculture projects in the province. Speaking on the occasion, Durrani said illegal import of substandard Iranian saffron for subsequent export under the label of Afghanistan is a devastating blow to the economy of the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohammad Asif Rahimi, governor of Herat, said import of substandard saffron from the neighboring countries have resulted in falling prices of the crop. He said border guards have been directed to stop the illegal import of substandard saffron.
