70 percent of Taliban want peace, but neighbors interfere

KABUL (SW): A meeting of local elders and civic activists from Eastern Provinces and the High Peace Council was held in Nangarhar today, and the peace process with the Taliban was discussed in the meeting.

Dawood Khan Shahidzoi, head of the HPC’s delegation said that 70 percent of Taliban forces have supported the president’s peace offer; however, neighboring countries have blocked them.

Meanwhile, the participants in the meeting said that the HPC should ditch its symbolic role and work effectively to bring peace in the country.

The Peace Consultative Meeting is held in Nangarhar where the ISIS-K group regains power in some of the districts in this province worrying the residents of Nangarhar. However, the HPC said they intend to hold these peace meetings in all provinces of the country.
