KABUL (SW): The Taliban in Baghlan province cut the main power transmission line to Kabul last night depriving thousands of residents of electricity for hours in the capital city.
Local officials informed that the Taliban first cut the pillars of the transmission tower with electric cutter and later blew it up with explosives. Sultan Ahmad Azizi, head of the De Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) in Baghlan, informed Salam Watandar efforts have been made to resume the supply of electricity to Kabul.
According to the head of DABS in Baghlan, rebuilding the broken transmission tower would take days, but power supply to Kabul would be ensured on urgent basis.
Aga Mir Ghafori, police commander in the Doshe district – where the incident took place, informed that team of security forces has been dispatched to the area.
The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack.
