KABUL (SW): Arif Shah Jahan, former governor of Farah, who resigned after a series of protests in Farah demanding his resignation, has now been appointed as the governor of Maidan Wardak by the President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.
Dadullah Qaneh, a member of the Farah Provincial Council told Salam Watandar that when Shah Jahan was the governor of Farah, the province almost collapsed into the hands of the Taliban due to his inefficiency and lack of authority. The former governor was not able to manage the province, and he himself admitted it, Dadullah Qaneh claimed.
Meanwhile, Munira Yousufzada, the spokesperson for the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG), said that Arif Shah Jahan is a deserving person for the post of governor of Maidan Warkad, however, some individuals took advantage and had rallied the public against him to remove him from his post as the governor of Farah.
Although, many believed that inefficiency and the lack of management capability of Arif Shah Jahan had almost caused the collapse of Farah into the hands of the Taliban, however, Arif Shah Jahan has said that when he resigned the security situation in the Farah province was at its best and that the residents of Farah have been satisfied with his governance.
Arif Shah Jahan has claimed that he has more than 40 years of managerial experience, and he knows Afghanistan well and his main goal for the resignation as governor of Farah was to show respect to the demands of a smaller group of people opposing him.
This is not the first time that one of the public figures who has been accused of inefficiency and weakness in management has been appointed at another important government seat.
