KABUL (SW): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has said the government would announce its strategy for peace with the armed opposition in the forthcoming Kabul Process’ international conference later this month.
KABUL (SW): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has said the government would announce its strategy for peace with the armed opposition in the forthcoming Kabul Process’ international conference later this month.
He said this at a ceremony marking the anniversary of the withdrawal of the Red Army of the former Soviet Union from Afghanistan. The President asked citizens to inquire those opposing peace talks about the reasons of their opposition to peace.
The President, who has underlined sustainable peace as one of his top priorities, said the decisions related to peace would be taken in consultation with the religious scholars.
In other part of his speech, the President stressed all refugees residing in Pakistan shall return home within 24 months. He added, after the return of refugees from Pakistan, talks would be held with Iran on repatriation of refugees from there as well.
