LASHKARGAH (SW): More than 50 religious scholars in Helmand province have declared suicide attacks as anti-Islam.
These scholars gathered in the provincial capital Lashkargah on Sunday, and unanimously criticized Pakistani religious scholars for discriminating Afghanistan in a ‘fitwa’ in which they exclusively described the suicide attacks in Pakistan only as un-Islamic without extending this condemnation to Afghanistan as well.
Mawlawi Haqparast and Mawlawi Mosavi, two religious scholars in Helmand, said on the occasion that such attacks are not only un-Islamic in Afghanistan, but all over the world. They said no Muslim has the right to kill himself in this way, and also claim so many more lives.
Hafiz Mohammad Dawood, head of the directorate of Haj and Religious Affairs, hailed the move by the religious scholars. He stressed Islam does not approve such suicide attacks, and Muslims should condemn it.
At the end, a religious decree was inked by the scholars on these lines in this unprecedented gathering in Helmand.
