BAGHLAN (SW): Up to 13 cases of murder and two cases of abduction and rape of women took place in Baghlan in the past ten months alone.
According to the Khadeja Yaqin, head of the Directorate of Women Affairs in the province, as many as four women were killed in Pul-i-Khumri and other districts in the past month. Highlighting reasons behind so many cases of violence against women, she said domestic violence, armed clashes among gangs, presence of outlawed individuals, and lack of policewomen in the districts are the main factors in this regard.
About these cases of violence directed at women, Khadeja Yaqin said perpetrators of 3 murders have been apprehended while culprits involved in rest of the ten murders are on the run.
In a recent incident in this spree, a young female student has been shot dead in the Pul-e-Khumri city for unknown reasons.
