KABUL (SW) – President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani laid floral wreath at the memorial of martyrs in connection with the 99th Independence Day here on Sunday.
The ceremony was attended by vice president, Abdul Rasheed Dostum, chief executive officer, Abdullah Abdullah, former president, Hamid Karzai, and a number of other dignitaries.
The government has announced to celebrate the Independence Day at the Darul Aman palace in line with the legacy of former King, Amanullah Khan Ghazi. In Jalalabad city, prayers were offered at the grave of King Amanullah.
King Amanullah Khan was at the helm of affairs in Afghanistan in 1919 when the country got back sovereignty over the foreign policy from the British ruling over neighbouring India.
