KABUL (SW) – Analysts believe political blunders by the U.S. and Afghan politicians have led to the continuation of war in Afghanistan after the 9/11 attacks.
On the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, analysts told Salam Watandar that though a new system of governance was established in Afghanistan after these attacks, but mistakes on the part of the U.S. as well as the Afghan politicians led to the continuation of the war here.
Abbas Faraso, an Australia-based analyst, said the opportunities created after these attacks have not been utilized in Afghanistan. Firdaus Kawash, a Kabul-based analyst, said that a democratic system was established in Afghanistan after the 9/11 attacks, but the U.S. got busy in Iraq and failed to exert enough pressure on Pakistan, which remains a mistake by Washington.
According to Bismillah Ranjbar, a political commentator, Afghanistan entered a new era after the 9/11 attacks, but presence of the U.S. troops led to the raging proxy wars in Afghanistan.
The September 11 attacks (also referred to as 9/11) were a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks by the terrorist group al-Qaeda against the United States on the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2001. The attacks killed 2,996 people, injured over 6,000 others, and caused at least $10 billion in infrastructure and property damage.
