LASHKARGAH (SW): The security forces have freed 89 captives from a Taliban prison in the Helmand province.
Umar Zwak, spokesman for the provincial governor, told Salam Watandar that the Taliban prison has been dismantled in the Baghran district, and 46 militants have been taken into custody. Among those freed from the Taliban captivity are 46 soldiers and 20 civilians.
The operation was conducted by the National Directorate of Security (NDS) forces and the special units of police in Helmand. The governor’s spokesman informed that 14 Taliban militants have been killed, a number of vehicles and other material confiscated.
The Taliban have not commented on this so far.
