80 percent of businessmen evade income tax in Logar

PUL-E-ALAM(SW): Officials in Logar said that businessmen have evaded income tax over the past five years in Logar province.

Mohammad Haleem Fedayee, Governor of Logar, said that a number of businessmen and pump station owners have not paid income tax to the government for five years.

He said that an ultimatum has been issued in coordination with the government, which demands the businessmen to pay their income taxes till the next Friday (tomorrow), or otherwise their related shops and pump stations will be closed by the security forces.

He further said that all government’s banks would be open in the province on Friday so that the businessmen could pay their income taxes.

The businessmen, however, told Salamwatandar that the security forces have closed a hundreds of shopping centers and pump stations in Pol-e-Alam and some other parts of the districts in Logar province since two days.

They said that they could not pay their income taxes as the government’s banks were always overcrowded making it very difficult for them to pay their taxes on time.

Government officials in Logar said that the government collects nearly afs 1 billion income tax each year but since last five years, the businessmen have always evaded income taxes in Logar.
