KABUL (SW) – Reports suggest at least eight policemen got killed following an air raid by the foreign troops in Helmand province.
The incident took place in restive Helmand province’s Neher-e-Siraj district late on Thursday.
Nusrat Rahimi, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, said a police check post in the Tanki area came under the Taliban assault. He said the security forces engaged with the insurgents and later the NATO forces conducted an air raid against the insurgents. He said scores of insurgents, eight policemen got killed and 11 more got injured in this incident.
The MoI spokesman added investigation into the incident has begun.
The Taliban claimed in asocial media post that the U.S. airstrike in Helmand killed 35 Afghan policemen including four senior officers.
