KABUL (SW): According to the Ministry of Women Affairs there has been a considerable increase in cases of violence against women this year so far.
Dilbar Nazari, Minister for Women Affairs told a presser here on Saturday that as many as 600 cases of violence have been registered in the first six months of the current year. She stated that the increase in violence indicates that the insecure provinces such as Herat, Ghor, Baghlan, Takhar and Daikondi remain more prone to violence on women.
Dilbar Nazari expressed concerns over the mounting number of such cases.
Spoghmai Wardak, the head to Proficiency and Policy Office at the ministry said on the occasion that it is regrettable that many citizens view the Ministry of Women Affairs as a useless organization. She added that the ministry has conducted a number of programs for women empowerment and is currently working on project to ensure justice for women.
The Ministry of Women Affairs aims to launch an anti-violence campaign next month. The campaign is aimed to decrease violence and improve woman’s status in the society.
