KABUL (SW) – At least 60 security forces were killed and close to 50 others were wounded by the Taliban in attacks across the country in past three days, officials confirmed.
Security officials in Takhar, Zabul, Helmand, Badakhshan, Faryab, Baghlan, Daikundi, Jawzjan, Ghor and Farah provinces confirmed the casualties.
According to information obtained by Salam Watandar, the highest casualties were seen by security forces in Takhar, Zabul, Helmand and Badakhshan provinces.
Takhar saw 13 security forces got killed and 6 wounded, Helmand saw 10 security forces got killed and 12 wounded, Badakhshan with 9 killed and 7 wounded and Zabul with 9 killed are among the provinces where security forces suffered heavy casualties.
Zabul governor's spokesman Gul Islam Sial said 6 soldiers were killed as a result of clashes between security forces and the Taliban in Arghandab district.
Security officials in the Ghor, Herat, Faryab, Badghis, Jawzjan, Daikundi and Helmand provinces also reported casualties suffered by the Taliban. They said 49 insurgents were killed and 43 other wounded. They say key Taliban commanders are also among those killed.
Jawzjan Police Chief Abdul Wahed Wajdan said several Taliban attacks on a number of districts in the province were repelled last night.
According to him, 5 members of the Taliban group were killed in the most recent raids in Qurghin district.
