GHAZNI CITY (SW): Jawed Salangi, the spokesman for Ghazni’s governor, told Salam Watandar that 6 out of 9 passengers who were kidnapped by the Taliban two days ago from Kandahar-Kabul highway, were released on Friday morning.

He didn’t go into specifics about the identities of the passengers but Khalil Hotak, Head of High Peace Council in Ghazni, said that the abducted passengers were all security forces personnel who were released through mediation of the tribal elders and the high peace council in the province.

Hotak also informed of 4 residents in Nani village who were also abducted on Thursday afternoon from Kabul-Kandahar highway.

The Police Chief in Ghazni, however, denied the news of recent abduction and said that security forces have yet to receive any report about it.
