KUNDUZ CITY (SW): Six men who were asleep have been shot dead by unknown armed men in Deh Wairan village of Khan Abad district in Kunduz province on Tuesday.
The locals carried coffins of the victims on the streets to protests against this gruesome act of violence in the province. Protestors claimed that the victims were security forces’ personnel, and were murdered in a guesthouse. They urged local authorities to bring the culprits to justice.
Hayatullah Amiri, chief of the district, told SalamWatandar that the murders stem from personal feuds. He said only 2 of the victims were from the security forces. Mahfozullah Akbari, police spokesman for northeastern zone, said 5 irresponsible armed men and 1 civilian were shot, and 1 more was injured while they were asleep. “Police have initiated investigation”, assured Amiri.
