LASHKARGAH (SW) – Security forces in Helmand province have killed two al-Qaeda militants and arrested six more, an official said on Monday.
Mohammad Yaseen Khan, provincial governor, said the Special Forces in Kandahar province planned and conducted an operation in Helmand’s Neher Siraj district two days ago. He added two al-Qaeda commanders, Mula Jabir and Mulla Yasir, got killed in this operation and six more, including two women, were arrested.
The arrest of women has sparked an outcry in the area, and locals have demanded release of the women who have been charged with having ties with the terrorist group.
The provincial governor has said the public outcry over the arrest of these two women would be shared with officials in Kabul. He vowed to continue with the night raids against the terrorists in the country.
