KABUL (SW) – The Ministry of Public Health said on Saturday that in the past 24 hours, at least 556 new positive cases of coronavirus emerged in the country.
Most of the infected people are registered in Kabul, Balkh and Nangarhar provinces.
Based on the statistics provided by the ministry, with the registration of these new cases, the number of positive cases in the country surged to 24,102.
In the past 24 hours, a total of 1,065 samples of people suspected of having coronavirus were tested in 16 provinces. The Ministry of Public Health said that 5 patients with the virus died and 273 more recovered in the past 24 hours.
According to the ministry, a total of 451 people have died of coronavirus and another 4,201 have recovered so far.
On the other hand, Mohammad Rafiq Shirzai, a spokesman for the Herat public health department, said that due to lack of testing equipment, no samples were taken from people suspected of contracting the virus during past 24 hours. According to him, the testing equipment is expected to arrive in the province soon.
