52 insurgents killed in Shindand

HERAT (SW): Security officials in the western province of Herat have stated that during the last 24 hours dozens of the Taliban militants have been killed in Uraeen area of Shindand district in the province. They confirmed that three security forces including five civilians have also lost their lives.

Jilani Farhad, the spokesman for Herat governor, said that as many as 52 insurgents including Taliban commander Mullah Nayeb and Mullah Muhib have been killed in series of operations led the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF). He further said that the ANSF have wounded 10 other militants.  

The spokesperson for Herat governor noted that the Taliban managed attacks on a clinic and a school, killing 5 innocent civilians and  wounding 4 others.

The spokesperson for Herat governor noted that operation is underway in Uraeen area of Shindand district and the ANSF have pushed the militants back of the area. Farhad pointed out that senior security officials and military commanders are leading this ongoing operation.

The Taliban have not commented in this regard so far.
