KABUL, Afghanistan (AA) – Crimes related to drugs have doubled in comparison to the past year, Khalid Mohed, spokesman of Counter Narcotics Justice Center, said on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference, he said one of the main reasons behind 50 per cent surge in such crime is amendments in the counter-narcotics laws. He said a total of 810 cases involving 1153 people were reported last year alone.
Mohed added that 55 women, 3 foreign nationals, 39 students are among those arrested in connection with drug trafficking. The Counter Narcotics Justice Center spokesman said nearly one thousand people were sentenced to 21 years in jail term by the primary courts in this connection last year.
