5 soldiers killed in Helmand car bomb attack

HELMAND (SW): At 9 am today (Thursday), suicide bombers attacked the security forces’ base in the district of Grishk with a car full of explosives which killed five members of the Sungari forces and injured a police officer.

After the recent insecurity incidents in Helmand, a new force was created in Helmand under the Directorate of National Security which in the local language is called “Sungarian” or “Sungari”.

Officials at the media office of the Maiwand Army Regiment said that a Saracha car (outback sedan vehicle) has been used in the attack which killed 5 members of the “Sungarian forces” and one police officer was wounded.

The Sungarian post which was attacked is located on the entrance to the district governor’s house and in proximity to the Directorate of the National Security in Grishk city, the capital of Helmand province.

No group has claimed the responsibility for the attack so far.
