MAIMANA (SW): A 42-year woman Zahra has allegedly been killed by her neighbor in Maimana city, Faryab province on Monday.
Abdul Kareem Yourish, spokesman for the provincial police department, told Salam Watandar the 22-year-old suspect Abdul Shakoor is on the run. Yourish said investigations have begun, and law enforcement officials are after the suspect. Dr. Abdul Ahad, medical officer at the Afghan-Turk Hospital in Maimana, has confirmed that the woman has been shot thrice.
The deceased’s daughter Hameeda has blamed her neighbor Abdul Shakoor for abusing and threatening her mother over tree. Hameeda said at first the suspect fled when her mother called the police, but later returned and shot Zahra with an automatic rifle. Hameeda has also named her father among the perpetrators of the murder. She said her father has married another woman.
