400 historical monuments at Khost Museum in danger

KHOST CITY (SW): Officials at the Khost Information and Culture Department fear lack of proper place to preserve the historical monuments here could lead to devastating consequences.

Habib Mohammad, Head of the National Museum in Khost told SalamWatandar that these monuments were presently kept in a fragile state with added threats from the thieves and the harsh weather.

According to him, the museum has some 400 monuments and all of them are stored in one single room with absolutely no modern facilities.

Amin Shah Ulfat, Director Information and Culture, affirmed that the local museum was lacking all basic requirements such place must have. He asked the Kabul government and aid organizations to play their role in ensuring the historical treasure is well preserved.

Historians believe preserving the historical monuments play vital role in keeping a nation a live and united. A number of Khost residents have also urged the authorities to pay attention towards the poor state of Khost Museum.
