GHAZNI (SW) – At least four students got killed in Ghazni province as a mortar shell hit their school in the Andar district, an official statement confirmed.
According to the statement issued by the provincial administration, the Mula Noh Baba high school in the Andar district got hit by a mortar shell from unknown direction killing four students and injuring 13 others.
It noted fighting was underway between the security forces and the Taliban in the area when this incident took place.
The UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan has expressed deep concerns over the incident. "… initial findings indicate at least 4 boys killed, 14 more and 2 teachers injured by mortar hitting school in Andar, Ghazni. Parties urged to avoid engagement near schools. Children & schools must always be safe. #Afghanistan", it tweeted.
