ASADABAD (SW) – Heavy clashes have resumed between the Afghan and the Pakistani forces in Kunar’s Narai district areas, officials confirmed on Monday.
Ghani Musmim, spokesman for the provincial governor, told Salam Watandar that the clashes began Sunday and resumed this morning after a break last evening. He confirmed three women got killed and four more civilians got injured this shelling. He said the two sides are using small and heavy arms in this exchange of fire.
According to the authorities, fresh troops have reached the area, and have repulsed the attacks by the Pakistani forces. There are no official comments from Pakistan on this development so far.
In the meanwhile, the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) issued a statement urging Pakistan to stop the shelling and stop maneuvers around the disputed Durand Line. It also urged the government to make Pakistan accountable with support from the international community.
In August, Afghanistan lodged complaint against Pakistan at the UN over alleged crossed-border shelling when 3 children were reported killed in such an incident.
