HERAT CITY (SW): Agriculture authorities named 27th July as National Honey Day on Thursday in Herat.
The authorities said the aim is to encourage beekeeping industry which will be celebrated every year.
Abdul Saboor Rahmani, the provincial agricultural director, talking about a 30 per cent honey production increase compared to last year said that the honey beekeeping industry is improving in the province. “Currently 1500 people are working in the honey beekeeping industry”, informed Rahmani.
The authorities pointed out that despite the fact that the honey beekeeping industry is flourishing, low-quality honey imports from neighboring countries especially from Iran is concerning.
THe provincial agriculture directorate said residents of Enjil, Qozara, and Pashtunzarghon districts are busy in the beekeeping industry.
