KABUL (SW): According to the Independent Administrative Reforms and Civil Service Commission (IARCS), some 25, 000 posts remain vacant in the public sector due to inefficiency of the government officials.
Director IARCS Ahmad Masoud Tokhi told this as he briefed the lawmakers at the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) on Wednesday. He went on to say that persistent nepotism in the public sector has hindered the appointment of people on these vacant posts.
He suggested that the long and complicated bureaucratic procedure for appointment in the public sector should urgently be reformed. Tokhi told the house that currently some 25, 000 posts remain vacant in the public sector.
The WJ members criticized the government’s idle posture in regard to fresh appointments.
The members asserted that thousands of posts remain vacant and the youth remain unemployed while the government remains unmoved to resolve the crisis.
According to the (IARCS) estimates, most of the empty posts are related to the ministries of education.
Nasrin Oryakhail, Minister of Labor, Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled (MoLSAMD) has acknowledged the figures about vacant posts. She however, told the house that MoLSAMD has no figures available in regard to vacant posts in the armed forces.
She informed the house that efforts are underway to improve the public services’ sector.
