Pul-e-Alam(SW): Officials at the Education Department in Logar province have said that 25 girls’ schools and 3 girls’ madrasas that were previously closed due to militancy have been reopened.
The schools were closed for five months due to terrorist activities.
These schools and madrasas were located in Pul-e-Alam, Baraki Barak, Khoshi and Mohammad Agha districts, which were reopened with the cooperation of tribal elders, local officials and religious scholars.
Mohammad Akbar Stanikzai, Head of Education Department in the province, told Salam Watandar that 3000 girl students attended the school alone and currently nothing threatens them.
Mohammad Salim Saleh, Spokesman for Logar Governor, quoting the governor, said that education institutes are not meant to carry out political or militarily activities as these places are purely for public welfare.
He added that closing the doors of a school is like closing the door of a house to the children. He asked security forces to ensure security of the girls’ schools across the province.
Residents, however said that the academic year has ended and that reopening the schools was in vain.
They also asked the Taliban not to prevent girls from going to school.
