KABUL (SW): At least 24 people have been taken into custody on suspicion of collaboration with the terrorists or negligence of duty in connection with the attack on Sardar Dawood Khan Hospital last week.
Helaluddin Helal, deputy director at the Ministry of Defense (MoD), told journalists on Wednesday that the assault on the hospital was an attack on the national interest of the country. He said initial investigations have been completed, but it would not be shared now due to the delicate nature of the case.
He added 24 people have been arrested on charges of negligence of duty and suspectively collaborating with the attackers. “There are 24 people charged with negligence of duty including a General, we have divided these people in two groups, one included those in the security and intelligence group and the other are those who are suspected for collaboration with the attackers”, he said.
The MoD’s deputy further said footage of the surveillance cameras has also been reviewed. The fact-finding commission into the hospital attack has vowed investigation would be transparent and impartial.
