KABUL (SW): Up to 23 Afghan migrants have been shot dead by Iranian police in Sheraz city on Monday.
Reports suggest these men hailing from Takhar province were on their way to Tehrat city from Sheraz when Iranian police opened fire on their bus killing them. A number of other Afghan migrants in Iran told Salam Watandar via mobile phone that all these victims were from Takhar province, and their dead bodies have been moved to Kirman city in Iran.
Sunat Tiamuri, spokesman for the governor in Takhar, has acknowledged these reports. He informed that the exact number of casualties is not known yet, but initial reports suggest at least 15 people have been killed. He added five of the victims belonged to the province’s Klifgan district while the rest hailed from the Mawray Kokcha River area.
Iranian officials have not commented on this so far.
