FARAH CITY (SW) – Bilqis Roshan, a social activist in Farah, has told Salam Watandar a security convoy came under the Taliban assault last evening in Joyen district of the province.
At least 22 security forces got killed in the incident, including a new security chief for the district. According to Bilqis in these clashes, the deputy head of the Farah police command headquarters along with four other soldiers got injured.
Bilqis said the troops were only equipped with light weapons, which resulted in the high death toll.
Shah Mehmood Naimi, the deputy of Farah Provincial Council, has confirmed it. He said a number of senior police officials from the police headquarters are among those killed in the assault.
The security convoy was on its way to the district headquarters when it came under attack.
