KABUL (SW) – The Ministry of Public Health has opened a 200-bed facility for COVID-19 patients at the Darulaman Palace in Kabul.
Minister of Public Health, Ferozuddin Feroz said on the occasion that the center will be set up to treat 100,000 bedridden patients with coronavirus symptoms . According to him, the center will not be equipped as a hospital, but as a "sanatoriums" where health workers would serve coronavirus patients
Officials at the Ministry of Public Health also report hiring more health workers to treat coronavirus patients, saying that 50 percent of the ministry's health workers are engaged with the task and the rest will be employed from outside the ministry's structure.
The Minister of Public Health, acknowledging that there is little capacity in the country, said government is working to increase the capacity over the next ten days.
As per official figures, the total number of people infected with the coronavirus in the country reached 933 on Saturday.
