QALAT CITY (SW): Up to 20 Afghan National Police (ANP) men have been killed in Taliban’s coordinated attacks on their outposts in southern Zabul province.
Bismillah Afghan Mal, governor for the province told Salam Watandar fresh forces have been sent to the area to counter the militants. “The Taliban launched coordinated attacks on security check posts in the Shah Joey and Dai Chopan districts on the main Kandahar-Qalat highway, 20 policemen have died and more than 10 are wounded.” he said.
The Taliban have also fired up to 10 rockets on the central Qalat city, he informed.
The Afghan Ministry of Defence (MoD) in its daily security round-up claimed on Sunday up to 121 insurgents including 2 Daesh affiliates were killed and 41 others wounded in ongoing operations in 18 out of 34 provinces in the past 24 hours. “The Afghan National Army as nation’s defence forces, are ready to make sacrifice to ensure peace and security for people and has strong determination to eliminate terror groups”, it added.
