KABUL (SW): The Afghan Army Chief has made it clear those countries harboring terrorists would ultimately become their victims.
Army Chief Gen. Qadam Shah Shaheem said this while addressing a press conference here on Saturday alongside the deputy minister for the Ministry of Interior Abdul Rahman Rahman. Gen. Shaheem said as many as 1955 pro-Daesh militants have been killed across the country in past one year. He added at least three provinces including Helmand, Farah and Zabul have been cleared from the Daesh rebels. He noted the group has now been confined to a limited mountainous area in the Nangarhar province.
Chief of the Afghan National Army (ANA) further said among the militants killed in the counter terrorism operation included 6 from Tajikistan, 11 from Uzbekistan, 7 Chechens, 8 Arabs, 4 Chinese and a 'number of Pakistani' militants.
Abdul Rahman Rahman, deputy minister at the MoI, said on the occasion the Afghan National Security and Defense Forces (ANSDF) have become stronger against the militants. Afghan officials stressed the key commanders of the Daesh have been killed which has weakened this group.
