KANDAHAR CITY (SW): At least 18 soldiers are reported killed in a Taliban attack in Kandahar province, an official said on Friday.
A well-placed security source told Salam Watandar the Taliban attacked an Afghan National Army (ANA) base in Shah Wali Kot district. 18 soldiers are reported dead and 16 more wounded. Up to 30 Taliban are also reported killed and wounded.
Three days ago, at least ten members of the ANA got killed in a Taliban attack in Arghandab district of the same province. On April 21, the Taliban stormed the headquarters of the ANA in the north, the 209-Shaheen Corps in northern Balkh province at a time when the soldiers were either having lunch of performing the Friday prayers in a mosque inside the heavily guarded compound.
