LASHKARGAH (SW): At least 17 Taliban militants died in Helmand as they were busy installing explosives in a vehicle destined for a suicide car bombing, an official said on Saturday.
Abdul Salam, the spokesman for the provincial police headquarters, informed Salam Watandar that the incident took place last night in the Sor Shakh area of the Nahr-e-Siraj district. He said the militants wished to use this pickup vehicle for a suicide bombing aimed at government installations, but it exploded as they were busy placing explosives in it.
There are reports that a number of foreign militants with expertise in placing explosives in vehicles also died in this incident. The Taliban have not commented on this yet. Salam Watandar wished to have the views of the Taliban, but to no avail.
