LASHKARGAH (SW): At least 14 members of the security forces have reportedly died in a suicide attack on the Helmand-Kandahar highway, a security source said on Monday.
A security officials who was not authorized to speak to the media, informed Salam Watandar that a suicide car bomber targeted an outpost of the security forces. According to the source, 14 employees of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) died in this attack, and 6 more got wounded.
Omar Zwak, spokesman for the provincial governor, has acknowledged the attack. He, however, rejected the death toll. Zwak said the government is assessing the situation.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
