KABUL (SW): At least 15 young cadets of the Afghan National Army (ANA) got killed in a suicide attack in the capital Kabul on Saturday.
The Ministry of Defense (MoD) has confirmed that a bus that was carrying the cadets has been hit by a suicide bomber close to the Martial Fahem Military Academy in Kabul on Saturday afternoon. Maj. Gen. Dawlat Waziri, spokesman of the Ministry of Defence (MoD), told local media the suicide bomber walked closed to the cadets’ bus and detonated himself, leaving 15 cadets dead and four injured.
This comes on top of a suicide attack at a Shia community mosque in Kabul on Friday that killed up to 54 people and an attack on a Sunni community mosque in Ghor that killed over 20 people.
The Friday’s attack on mosques in Kabul and Ghor have been widely condemned. The UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Tadamichi Yamamoto, has expressed outrage over the attacks. “These brutal and senseless attacks against people at prayer are atrocities,” said Yamamoto, who is also the head of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA). “The persons most responsible for the attacks must be brought to justice.", he has urged.
