1400 artefacts from Mes Aynak shifted to the National Musuem in Kabul

PUL-I-ALAM (SW): Authorities in Logar’s Information and Culture Department has said some 1400 historic artefacts from Mes Aynak area have been safely shifted to the National Musuem in Kabul during the past five years.

Mohammad Shafique Popal, Director of Information and Culture Department told Salam Watandar that the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum also collaborated for this endeavour.

 Popal added that the Ministry of Information and Culture has assigned 25 archaeologists and 400 researches to carry out search for more artefacts. The department officials admitted that a number of these artefacts have been stolen during the past.

The locals however, have urged the department to safeguard the artefacts from Mes Aynak within the province.
 

Huma Ahmadi, member of the Logar Provincial Council regretted that promises made regarding the establishment of a new museum in Logar have not been fulfilled yet.

Mohammad Haleem Fidayee, Governor of Logar told Salam Watandar in this regard that the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has promised to provide 40 jeribs of land to the province for the establishment of a museum.

Lying east of the capital Kabul, Logar has attracted foreign investment for its vast reserves of copper at the Mes Aynak area. Officials have time and again affirmed the fact that a number of artefacts from this historic site have been smuggled.
