MAZAR-I-SHARIF (SW): Local authorities in Balkh province have said a top pro-government commander of the Afghan Local Police (ALP) along with his 13 fighters have been killed by the Taliban.
Muneer Farhad, spokesman for the governor, told Salam Watandar that the incident took place in the Jamtal district. He said fighting between the Afghan National Security and Defense Forces (ANSDF) and the Taliban is underway in the restive parts of Jamtal and Chahar Bolak districts.
He added that an intensive clean-up operation is underway to eliminate the militants. Farhad provided no information about casualties inflicted upon the Taliban
