KABUL (SW) – More than 13,000 devices of biometric verification of voters have reached Kabul, an official announced on Wednesday.
Syed Hafeezullah Hashimi, spokesman for the Independent Election Commission (IEC) told a presser here that the forthcoming Wolesi Jirga (lower house) elections would be held on time. He said up to 13,200 devices for the biometric verification of voters have arrived at the IEC headquarters.
The spokesman said digital servers and 4250 digital units to print sensitive electoral material have also arrived in Kabul. Hashimi vowed the remaining biometric devices would reach Afghanistan by Thursday.
The IEC official said all non-sensitive electoral material has reach provinces while the sensitive material has reached all except central provinces.
