PUL-I-KHUMRI (SW): Seven thieves have robbed 130 passengers in a motel during the early hours on Monday in Baghlan province.
The passengers told Salam Watandar that a police check post was nearby but police arrived to the site of robbery only after the bandits took away cash and other valuables with them. The passengers then went to see the officials in the city in a bid to seek justice but to no avail.
Mahfoozullah Akbari, spokesperson for the Afghan National Police (ANP) in the northwestern zone, has confirming the incident. He said the police have arrested two suspects as well as the motel owner. He added that further investigations are underway.
So far, the exact value of cash, jewellery and other items stolen in this robbery has not been estimated. Such robberies have taken place in Baghlan before as well. According to Mahfoozullah Akbari, ANP have requested the government to provide additional budget for at least two more check points, which can reduce highway robberies.
